Passion Led Us Here
Our story begins 20 years ago, when we moved to beautiful Bainbridge Island. Being designers ourselves we constantly were criss-crossing the Puget Sound on the ferry to gather samples for our clients’ homes. After kids, our trips to Seattle had to become quite quick - to the point that we could not get all the samples we needed. Combined with the fact that most of our clients really loved “playing” in our sample library, we are embedded in the local community Design Professionals and love helping people create the homes that they have been dreaming about - we could not NOT create this community resource center and consultancy dedicated to Bainbridge Island, and all things Interior Design!

Over 25 years of interior design experience has led Laura to The Design Lab 98110. With a BFA in Interior Architecture her past employers include NBBJ and Paul Allen. Her project experience ranges from hospitals to yachts, custom homes to private recording studios. She excels at helping clients to define, design and navigate their way to the home of their dreams. Additionally, she loves pugs, bourbon and lilacs. Not in that order.
Karen’s passion is exploring: both in art and in life. As a visual artist Karen brings her eye for materiality, details and color to every aspect of The Design Lab. She is also the “archeologist” of our material research and curation department ensuring that our vast Materials Library is always up to date. Being a native of France she sets a very high bar for all things stylish, beautiful and timeless.
Mitzi is a self-proclaimed “modern renaissance woman” and we could not agree more. There is nothing that Mitzi cannot accomplish and she does it with hard-working, honest and down-to-earth flair that she attributes to her South Dakota background. With a history of design and staging accomplishments and a record number of happy clients all up and down the West Coast Mitzi is not only a “can-do” person – she is truly inspiring to work with.
